The Raleigh Revival
Miami Beach's skyline is about to undergo a remarkable transformation as the iconic Raleigh Hotel, a cherished gem on the historic coastline, is being revived. The restoration project, led by Peter Marino in collaboration with New York-based developer SHVO and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, aims to breathe new life into this historic landmark while preserving its timeless charm.
Scheduled to be delivered in 2026 with 215 linear feet of beachfront, this 17-story tower's exterior design is helmed by Kobi Karp and the renowned architect Peter Marino is doing the interiors. The tower will offer 40 exclusive waterfront homes, including eight penthouses with one at $150M. In addition, the Raleigh Estate will undergo a transformation, featuring a newly restored 60-suite hotel and an exclusive members-only club. Both of these additions will also be designed by Peter Marino, ensuring a cohesive vision throughout the property.
The Crowing jewel at $150M
A penthouse and roof spanning approximately 13,000 square feet, located at the Rosewood Residences in Miami's South Beach, is set to become the priciest property ever in Miami Beach. Priced at "over $150 million", it is scheduled for completion by 2026.
A Historic Gem
The Raleigh, originally designed in 1940 by Lawrence Murray Dixon, has long been an emblem of Miami's vibrant Art Deco heritage. Despite standing empty for years, its allure remained undeniable. Now, Marino and his team are embarking on a labor of love to revive the building and pay homage to its storied past. Collaborating with Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design Inc., Marino ensures that The Raleigh's essence remains intact while seamlessly integrating modern amenities.
The Restoration Project
The restoration project is a meticulous endeavor that aims to preserve the spirit of The Raleigh's historic architecture. Marino's attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the project, ensuring that the building retains its iconic features including its world famous pool while incorporating contemporary touches. Beloved spaces like the Martini Bar and Tiger Lounge are being revived, offering guests the opportunity to experience the essence of The Raleigh's storied past through a contemporary lens.
The Raleigh's Expansion
However, the transformation of The Raleigh extends beyond the hotel itself. Rising alongside the historic building is the majestic Rosewood Residences, a testament to luxury living. Designed by Peter Marino himself, these oceanfront homes offer a lifestyle of unparalleled opulence. Ranging from two-bedroom retreats to sprawling seven-bedroom estates, each residence boasts panoramic views of the azure waters.
Unparalleled Luxury Living
The Rosewood Residences promise a wealth of exclusive amenities, befitting their elite status. A dedicated lobby adorned with curated art sets the tone for sophistication, while a private Porte Cochere entrance and valet service ensure seamless arrivals. For wellness enthusiasts, a state-of-the-art fitness center beckons, complemented by oceanfront swimming pools that invite residents to bask in the sun's warm embrace.
Residents will have the opportunity to enjoy numerous exclusive benefits including four pools, round-the-clock concierge service, a playroom for children, a spacious 4,000-square-foot spa, and a fitness center with high ceilings. The highly anticipated beach club, managed by the renowned Italian restaurant Langosteria, will serve as their first establishment in the United States. This establishment will not only offer dining options for residents but also provide cabana service on the beach.
Miami Beach's Timeless Elegance
As Miami Beach continues to evolve, The Raleigh stands as a beacon of timeless elegance, reimagined for a new era. With its historic restoration and contemporary expansion, it epitomizes the seamless fusion of past and future—a testament to the enduring allure of this coastal paradise. The Raleigh's revival offers an unforgettable journey into Miami's storied past and vibrant future.
How Shvo got involved
In February 2019, Tommy Hilfiger and Dogus Group sold the 83-room Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach to a partnership led by New York developer Michael Shvo for a $103 million. This sale set a new benchmark for hotel transactions in Miami-Dade County, with a price tag of approximately $1.24 million per room.
Since 2017, the Raleigh Hotel had been closed. Although efforts were made to restore and reopen the hotel, Tommy Hilfiger expressed that the offer made was simply too good to pass up.
