Miami MLS Stadium approved
After long grueling years, Jorge Mas’ quest to take ownership of the current Melreese Golf Course land for his Freedom Park is a go.
"I'm super happy," "Its been three-and-a-half years of really hard work, negotiations, the ups and downs. But listen, today's a great day for Inter Miami. It's a great day for Major League Soccer. I think it's an amazing day for my city, for Miami. To be able to build a stadium and a transformational development around this, listen, I think it's a good day all around. But a lot of hard work went into this and the work just continues." Inter Miami CEO and managing owner Jorge Mas.
The Miami mainstay is looking to transform the current golf course it to a mix-use zone with a stadium for his soccer team Inter Miami, office space, hotel space and one of the city’s largest public parks. The 99-year lease was approved at the end of last month after a lengthy vetting and voting process.
The project will not only transform the area visually by adding more commercial Miami real estate but should bring in billions in revenue and hundreds of new jobs. It is calculated that this lease will generate over two billion dollars of revenue over the life of the lease.
Freedom Park will hold a million square feet of office, retail and commercial use with the park set to occupy at least 58-sprawling acres.
If all the dreams that make up Freedom Park, it can prove to be one of the most transformative projects in the history of the city with unprecedented commercial impact.
